Heads Up

Supporting the wellbeing of every young player at Cainscross RFC

At Cainscross RFC, we believe rugby is about more than developing skills on the pitch.

It’s about helping young people grow in confidence, build resilience, support one another and feel part of a community where they can thrive.

That’s why we created Heads Up — Cainscross RFC’s own wellbeing programme for our youth section.

What is Heads Up?

Heads Up is a club-led initiative designed to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of our young players.

Created by Cainscross RFC, the programme provides age-appropriate resources, practical guidance and opportunities for positive conversations around wellbeing.

Its aim is simple: to make sure every young player knows that their wellbeing matters just as much as their performance on the pitch.

Why we created it

We recognise that young people today face many challenges, both in sport and in everyday life.

As a club, we wanted to do more than simply acknowledge the importance of mental health — we wanted to create something meaningful, practical and accessible for our players and families.

Heads Up was developed to help us:

  • Encourage open and healthy conversations
  • Promote emotional resilience
  • Support confidence and self-esteem
  • Help young players understand the importance of looking after their mental wellbeing
  • Reinforce that asking for support is always a strength

What we've done

The Heads Up programme has been fully developed by Cainscross RFC.

Through the programme, we have:

  • Created bespoke Heads Up wellbeing packs
  • Provided resources tailored for our youth players
  • Equipped coaches to support positive wellbeing conversations
  • Embedded wellbeing as a core part of our youth club culture

Heads Up Packs

All youth players should receive a Heads Up pack.

If your child has not yet received their pack, please speak to their coach, who will be happy to help.

Our Commitment

Heads Up is more than a campaign.

It reflects the kind of club we want to be — one that develops not only better rugby players, but happier, healthier and more confident young people.

At Cainscross RFC, we’re committed to creating an environment where every player feels supported, valued and able to reach out when they need help.
