Boxing Day 2023 - a day of firsts.

Our annual festive day saw the first mixed ability match, bringing together the full diversity of Cainscross RFC - an end to end game saw some fantastic rugby and huge smiles from all involved. Undoubtedly a welcome new tradition for the day.

The senior game welcomed over 40 players, with representation from across the district, testament to the traditional Cainscross inclusivity.

An end to end affair saw some superb running rugby entertaining the burgeoning crowd who were out in force. The open game brought some fantastic team tries scored from deep in each teams own half and over 18 tries in total as both teams threw off the shackles to play the game way it should be.

Eventually the white team won with 52 points to 37.

The day was humbling for lots of reasons, but notable was the range of players and spectators, along with the manner in which everyone approached the day - traditional rivalries put aside to celebrate rugby.

The day is also always synonymous with remembering absent friends, in particular Chris Mills.
